TLDR; The small, off-the-highway burger joint with no indoor seating might not look appealing – but if you’re in Chino Valley and looking for a good burger, Pepperjacks of Chino Valley is the place to be. I could complain about the atmosphere or the french fries, but with great burgers like this, we recommend trying them out.

Full Review of Pepperjacks

Let’s cut to the chase – Pepperjacks isn’t the most appealing visually, nor is the food extravagant. But is that really what you want from a burger joint? What Pepperjacks does best is make simply great burgers!

Food Quality

Admittedly, the french fries are hit or miss. But after several visits, I’ve never had a bad burger. Not too greasy, cooked perfectly to “medium done”, and the recipes leave you satisfied, yet somehow begging for more.

The portions are something I’m surprisingly happy with. Unlike many Americanized restaurants, a double burger from Pepperjacks is just right. I don’t feel overly stuffed and gross – instead I feel satisfied. Taking a nap in the sun seems like a good idea after a meal at Pepperjacks of Chino Valley.

Disclaimer: I’ve only eaten burgers, fries, and onion rings at Pepperjacks. I can’t comment on their other food, such as the breakfast sandwiches.

Service

The service is adequate, but nothing to write home about. The staff is always friendly, but due to their multitasking and busy drive-through, it may take several minutes to place an order. Once someone is available, though, I can quickly place my order and they always get it right.

During a busy lunch rush, expect to wait 10-15 minutes for your food. That’s just about what you’d expect from an establishment like this. Again, it’s perfectly fine – but not what I’d consider “above and beyond”.

Atmosphere

I believe most patrons order their food to go, so the lack of an indoor seating option isn’t a big deal. The outdoor tables are nice when the weather permits.

The tables are always clean, but the outdoor trash bins are a big grimy and take away from the enjoyment. Overall, the feeling I get is that it’s “a little rundown”.

I would love to see Pepperjacks put a little extra effort into their decor and atmosphere. I don’t know if they own the empty land behind the parking lot or not, but it would be great if they turned the space into a venue for small parties. Chino Valley could use a spot like that!

Price

The price is about what you’d expect. I never feel surprised by the total after ordering. I’m happy to pay for a great burger.

Summary

It’s not visually stunning or a place with incredible, over the top service. But at the end of the day, Pepperjacks of Chino Valley is a great place to get a burger. If you have to drive from Prescott or PV, it’s worth trying at least once.
